Requesting Minor Customisation
I'm using this Community Nurse Thanks card to illustrate what I mean by minor customisation.
In this example, my customer loved the card but asked if I could customise the colour of the car, and of the nurse's hair.
As you can see, this was possible and I obliged.
Other examples of possible minor customisation in this card would be to update the number plate, perhaps to read "N3W GR4D" or "BD4 Y30".
While I am growing there will be no charge for this service.
Requesting a Type of Card
I recently recieved a request for a First Communion Card and as I didn't have anything suitable on my website, I used this as an opportunity create a small range. This is labour intensive (a labour of love) and time intensive (even the most enjoyable creations take time!)
Sometimes I will say no, depending on my current work load, and I don't want that to offend - it is never personal. Even if I cannot make this type of card in the time frame you require, I will add it to my list of "To Do" cards - because if you want one, someone else probably does too!
I am eager to create cards for everyone, and in an inclusive way. But I can only draw from my own life experience and information available to me. I am also tentitive when it comes to the difference between inclusivity and appropriation.
If you are requesting a card that includes a culture or religion I am not familiar with, any questions or missteps that cause offence will be because of ignorance and not prejudice. Please gently educate me, and help me learn to be ever more inclusive as a small business.
